Probably applies doubly to written speech as well.
One of the most meaningful lessons I learned from Andrew was the teaching on Skillful means:
" What is skillful means (upaya)?
Skillful means (upaya-kausalya ) refers to an enlightened personโs ability to tailor their message to a specific audience. The concept emerged in Buddhist texts such as the Lotus Sutra , written hundreds of years after Buddhism began, but it also characterizes the historical Buddhaโs style of dialogue and teaching. Teachers today may use skillful means to deliver the right teaching to a student in the most effective manner."
Relating to others not where you are at, but where they are at.
I wonder if this skillful means is tied to skillful speach when talking to yourself? Modify your speach and you can modify yourself.
Great article
