đź’€ NightClub 1.0 Website Status (Due to close May 1)

I asked about accessing discussions, full of content and resources, going into the future with the new NightClub website. The response was as follows:

Hi Barry, I checked in with the Tech team about your question about accessing past content such as from discussions and here was the response:

The old community is still alive, if Barry wants to go in and manually cut and paste from it. Unfortunately no way to export or download old posts in the community.”

Most of the past recordings have been moved over to the new space but the discussions have not. I am hesitant to bring discussions over since there are so many threads and that would clutter the new platform.

My feeling is to share with members the date when the old platform will be going dark (right now tentatively scheduled for May 1st) and invite everyone to save what they wish from the discussions as those will not be transferred over.

What are your thoughts?

If “dark” means not accessible, I’m thinking to go back through the NC site and archive things from the discussions I am interested in remembering.

Perhaps some of our AI whizzes can come up with a way AI can retreive the content posted oevr the past five years when the darkness comes?

I’ll look into it tonight. Just one thing – is the email about the update referring to this forum, or another section of the nightclub site? I mostly just use the forum here and haven’t kept up with the update news, so I’m not totally sure what they mean. If it is this forum we’re talking about, I’ve got a couple of ideas in mind that would probably work.

Great clip :hugs:.

@Bianca_Aga do you have the app store / play store on your phone? If you do, try downloading chrome, firefox, microsoft edge or opera.

Hopefully one of those browsers will be compatible.

“What we might do is make all but the “Community” in the old site inactive, so people can still access it and pull down what they need.”

I think it’s a good idea ~ what are your thoughts, Barry?

I like that idea a lot! Five years plus of material. Hoping this will happen. Hope members will move to the new environment quickly, as everything changes, but/and we learn from everything.

@_Barry + all forum members.

I’ve created a downloadable, offline version of the forums. It includes all posts and active internal links, allowing you to browse the entire forum structure without an internet connection. Please note that images are not included, and links to external websites will still require internet access to function.

It would be nice if the content from at least the last year or so in active topic areas could be re-posted on the new site.

Nice job! Did some searching and it goes back a few years and is topics-driven. I hope they leave the old site up, dormant, like an old space station in orbit, so it can be searched and has some of that functionality, as well. 10 points and free drinks on the house!

I agree completely. Andrew clearly understands the value of collective knowledge, and his extensive book collection shows that. Given this, I’d be surprised if he chose to remove years of valuable discussions and links.

I took some time to explore the archive before sharing it and wondered if it might be missing posts from a couple years ago? If so, I believe I can adjust the settings to capture those pages. I’ll perform a final archive on April 30th to ensure nothing is missed.

Goes back to 2019 as far as I checked. It is great for what you’ve saved. I looked for a few things and found them. Having a dormant NC 1.0 in its present form makes it searchable in different ways, which is what I really like, as well. The new 2.0 site has a different focus, with the Discussions not as prominent—not surprisingly since most NC members don’t actively contribute to them.

Actually, upon reflection, there was an earlier version of the site, but it was just basic info mostly. Went to present form early on.
