👽 AI Part 2 Complete ChatGPT Tutorial - UPDATE - Is AI the End of the World? Or the Dawn of a New One?

Agreed, and would also add, I think academia at least at the Bachelors degree level has become watered down over the decades, to accommodate a wider range of minds.

Whereas a traditional liberal arts education was intended to open minds, today’s educational institutions from K on up, tend to close them . . .

Agreed.

I think there is something seriously broken (and has been for decades) with public education.

No easy solution, but I think the fact that most presidents send their kids to Private schools, speaks volumes about this problem.

Not only presidents, but public officials, foreign diplomats and even many public school teachers avail themselves of private and alternative schooling, not to mention us ordinary folk.

Excellent points.

During the days when Slavery was legal in the US, it was illegal to teach slaves how to read or write.

I wonder why?

Do robots dream? Not exactly. But apparently they “run through scenarios to help them learn about the world.”

@_Barry AI deep fake is effecting American politics as well. There is talk of regulating it, which I would support.

@_Barry As for Google’s AI Overview, I think it should be working a lot better before it’s unleashed on the world. The fact that it can’t tell the difference yet between satirical spoof articles, such as those found in “the Onion”, or bogus reddit posts and real legitimate information is a cause to take a step back. People need to learn to be critical of the information AI gives them, and still double check things and do their own research.

This confirms some of my concerns. AI is not capable of feelings and emotions as these are biologically based. We feel in our bodies, i.e. “I love you with all my heart”, “I feel it in my gut”, etc. Without feeling there is not capability for compassion and without that there is no basis for a sense of morality and ethics. I’m not against AI but there needs to be a great deal more safeguards in place. Otherwise their may be situations in which they decide that it is the logical thing to do to harm human beings.
