Durga Pujya and Dashain in Nepal are unmatched for fervor and spectacle making late September, early October one of the best times to visit. On the other hand, the animal sacrifices may be hard to take for some, as they are used to purify inanimate objects such as cars and airplanes during this time.

Jai Uttal and the Pagan Love Orchestra doing a Durga Mantra. Durga is the powerful Warrior Goddess who rides a tiger and is the protector of the oppressed and downtrodden. Definitely not someone you want to mess with! This is from his 90’s album “Shiva Station.” A musical masterpiece - definitely recommend this whole album. Here’s a live version at Shaktifest in California:

I saw an amazing concert tonight: Tibetan Singer Yungchen Llamo at a small cafe in my hometown of Olympia, Washington, USA. The place was packed and she had a rockin’ guitarist who had played with Peter Gabriel and a great percussionist that just got added to the band last night in Seattle.
Here she is. The last song is from her latest album and it sounds like it has her current guitarist.
Om Mani Padme Hum:

Sound Healing

Dream Song (from her latest album “One Drop of Kindness”) Here is what she says about the song:
One night, while living in Sydney, I had a dream that my son and I sang a song together – a song of love about the sadness of separation and the joy of being together. When I awoke, the monks in the house said they had heard me singing in the night and found on our tape recorder a recording of this song. I don’t remember waking up, nor going to record it —I think that frightened the monks a little!

Yungchen Llamo’s music helps to support what she feels is her true work, that of supporting homeless people in the U.S. and in various areas around the world. Her organization is called “One Drop of Kindness”:
