Native American jazz saxophone player Jim Pepperâs arrangement of a traditional peyote song celebrating the water spirit:
you know whatâs funny? I added it to a more recent playlist to discover that it was already in other playlists⊠but did not remember this gemâŠ! such a great sound. LOVE LOVE it
thank you.
@BlessingsDeers. Yes, great song! There was a version by Brewer and Shipley that was a top hit on American radio in the 60âs. I remember hearing it on the radio as a kid. But I prefer the original version by Jim Pepper. I also remember hearing Jim Pepper play live in the 70âs. But the Brewer and Shipley version is also nice and worth a listen. Here it is:
Some more Jim Pepper doing a traditional Muskogee song. The Muskogee were one of the tribes that were forced to relocate out of their original territory in the Southeastern U.S. by White settlers and were sent to Oklahoma. Some of them inter-mingled and married African-Americans. You can hear the African influence in this song:
A Lakota Song:
aaaah! I LOVE it! LOVE it LOVE it!
thanks SO MUCH for sharing
also loved the groove of Jim Pepperâs âComin and Goingâ
