I stole the vid from an older thread on here, but becuase it was so meaningful, thought I would put it in this treasure chest with the other gems.

The concept of a 4th time, (at 5min mark) is really fascinating to me.

Andrew often quotes Lama Surya Das who calls this “Buddha Standard Time.” I like his discussion of dreams at around 55:00 and again at 1:18:00. The rest of the weekend is posted here.

LOL love that, I think I heard Andrew mention this in one of his most recent videos, and thats why it resonated with me so much when I watched that video. I think Andrew called it “Turiah?” Not sure how to spell it, or if that is even the right word.

AWESOME, really appreciate you sharing that, the menditation instructions in the first one was helpful. :slightly_smiling_face:

Loved Wallaces story about the monk reincarnation of the 5 bodies, who enlihtened so many people, and the one monk who had 3 of those teahcers teach him. Wild stuff.

Not the deepest teachings in this vid, but I really like the story of the guy picking apples from a tree with his gaze:

Was Buddha a Shaman? Buddhism Explained with Robert A.F. Thurman

Lots of examples of miracles in Buddhist history.

My favorite story in the vid:

“No you cant do that yet, you shouldnt do that”

“Well, why not? Look I can knock a fruit off the tree just with my gaze.”

"Yes, but can you LIFT it back on & REATTACH it with your gaze?

Very good:

" View all phenomena as dream-LIKE"
by Dr. B. Alan Wallace

"
It does not say view everything as a dream, that would be delussional, to not be able to distinquish between dream and waking state is to be insane, delusional."

brilliant.
thanks for sharing

Yes, important to note this. For me it lead to nihilism big time. Synchronicities exploded over the course of a month / month and a half which lead to a dream like state while I was awake.

Worth noting though is when I was in this state I was having multiple lucid dreams every night. This almost created a feedback loop into my waking state.

Important to find a balance between these two states. A certain, controlled level of insanity and delusion as he called it IMO can be helpful for having lucidity during your dreams.

Stole this from @_Barry , if you appreciate Western Astrology, you will really like this video, becuase it discusses the foundations of the 4 elements, that govern the 12 signs. Highly educational, highly recommend:

At the about the 35min mark, the Conclusion or last 20 minutes of the video is really genius.

“that both matter and non matter can ONLY exist in partnership with everything else. So from this perpspective nothing can exist independantly, nothing exists in isolation. Everything is connected to, influenced by, and influencing everything else at all times. So this is the movement of life.”

I wanted to re-add this one to the list. The original link stopped working for it. This is my favorite. I usually listen to it once every 4-6 months.

The book is like an onion, layers upon layers of meaning within it.

My version is from 1964. Just got some new Chinese coins.

Really LOVE this one, stole it from @_Barry

Touching Reality as It Is | Thich Nhat Hanh

"This is something that belongs to the kingdom of God,
It is PART of the Kingdom of God.
And if you really can touch the flower,
you touch the Kimgdom in the here and the now,
you dont have to die in order to touch the Kingdom of God.”

Thich Nhat Hanh

Very deep and powerful teaching.

I especially loved the word translated as Body of the Cosmos, or Dharmakaya, so beautiful, heard Andrew say it a lot before, but didnt know its meanin or that was its translation. Also saw it translated as Body of Truth.

Appreciate you re posting, this is my favorite translationf it:

My favorite part of this is Verse 25. I have read many translations of this specific passage, and none of the others are as good as this translation, in my opinion:

" There was something formless and perfect
before the universe was born.
It is serene.

Empty.
Solitary.

Unchanging.
Infinite.

Eternally present.
It is the mother of the universe.
For lack of a better name,
I call it the Tao.
It flows through all things,
inside and outside, and returns
to the origin of all things.

The Tao is great.
The universe is great.
Earth is great.
Man is great.
These are the four great powers.

Man follows the earth.
Earth follows the universe.
The universe follows the Tao.
The Tao follows only itself.

Verse 25
(translation by Stephen Mitchell, 1995)“”

One of the best Meditation Videos Andrew has done, really love the deep dive he did. I had to listen to it half a dozen times just to start to grasp its wisdom, and will probably need another half dozen to fully grasp its depth.:

Highly reccommend this book:

Shes got some great 1 liners:

“if you argue with reality, you lose, but only 100% of the time.”

“Death has a terrible reputation, but its only a rumor”

“Peace doesn’t require two people; it requires only one. It has to be you. The problem begins and ends there.”

“Would you rather be right or free?”

" I don’t let go of concepts—I question them. Then they let go of me.”*

" Taking responsibility for your beliefs and judgments gives you the power to change them.”*"

“It’s not your job to like me – it’s mine.”

Short video, but infinite depth:

Alan Watts - The Menu is Not the Food (2019)

" now when I use the word thinking I mean precisely that process translating what is going on in nature into words, symbols
or numbers.

Symbols bear the same relation to the real world that money bears to wealth. You cannot quench anybody’s thirst with the word water just as you cannot eat a dollar bill and derive nutrition, but using symbols and using conscious intelligence has proved very useful to us. It has given us such technology as we have, but at the same time, it has proved too much of a good thing.

At the same time, we’ve become so fascinated with it that we confuse the
world as it is with the world as it is thought about, talked about and figured about, that is to say with the world as it is described. and the difference between these two is vast, and when we are not aware of ourselves except in a symbolic way, we’re not related to ourselves at all.

We’re like people eating menus instead of dinners and that’s why we all feel psychologically frustrated.

Alan Watts"

Found this gem when I googled one of Andrews sayings “eating the menu, instead of eating the meal”, I did not know what he meant by that.

Now I do :slightly_smiling_face:

The Menu is Not the Meal - Tom McCallum.
