An Experience with 5-HTP

Last night I took 400mgs of 5-HTP before going to bed: I slept terribly! What sleep I did get was very interesting. At one point I couldn’t open my eyes, my eyelids simply didn’t open anymore. Another time I convulsed so violently that I knocked everything off by bedside table. Then finally my girlfriend crawled into bed with me and hugged me, she’s currently in Germany. All three experiences were dreams but as vivid and real as me typing this now. I didn’t become lucid but have, for the first time, experienced the HD quality of the lucid dream, I now know it to be true, this is very encouraging.

Anyone interested in using supplements to experience what is possible should read this:

5-HTP suppresses REM for a few hours so in theory, if/when you sleep, your later REM periods should be fertile ground for lucid dreaming. You may have taken too much. I usually take one 100mg capsule. Good book, but dated. Seems he dropped off the grid after the book was published so no updates. Still, teleporting your girlfriend is quite an accomplishment. Glad to hear it worked for you, despite the discomfort.

Good for you. One small thing: the book you mention is largely anecdotal. I found it of interest, but my scientist friends give it no heed. Where’s the research to support these claims?

I just bought Lucid Dreaming Tea from Anima Mundi Apothecary (Adriana Ayales, a Costa Rican herbalist owns this business and I’ve seen her do some presentations on video and she is super dialed in and to me seems to know her stuff.)…very excited to try it. The tea has an interesting combo of herbs, you can find it online.
