Interview Series -- Charlie Morley

Hello. During his last mediation session, Andrew said he was releasing the interview with Charlie Morley that Thursday. That would have been Sept 23. I kept checking the INTERVIEWS page of this website but never saw it. Just now, I did a Google search and found it on the andrewholececk.com website. I’m confused that there are two websites for this material, and that the interview wouldn’t have been posted here. Is this as it should be?

That is probably the first one he did with Charie over a year ago. Like you, I’m waiting for the recent one to be posted.

Thanks much, Barry. That webpage gave no indication of the date. When Andrew said the interview would be “released” that Thursday, it seemed reasonable to think that meant it would be available on the Night Club site – in the Recordings section of the Interviews. Alas no.

Sorry for the delay all, yes Andrew interviewed Charlie Morley recently to discuss Charlie’s latest book. You can catch it here: https://nightclub.andrewholecek.com/lessons/interview-2-charlie-morley/

Outstanding on so many levels. To paraphrase Charlie— I love this podcast because you riff so well on what I say, unlike so many other podcasts. Interesting discussion of the recent IONs study for lucid dreaming and PTSD, in which I took part. I loved the discussion of PTSD (Post Truth Stress Disorder). Andrew has made this podcast public and available on soundcloud so I can share it with the people who participated in the study!

Yes! Another wonderful interview, filled with riches! I was particularly interested in the de-pathologizing of trauma and mental illness and seeing how we are all traumatized and mentally ill (in different gradations) and using lucid dreaming for healing work… Highlighting the body as our unconscious and referencing somatic descent and other bodywork. Exciting and so much to work with. I look forward to his book coming out

@Night.Club, will this interview be added to the members-only podcast feed, which is how I listen to Night Club interviews?

@Night.Club, that podcast episode is not showing up in my podcast feed. The most recent podcast that appears for me is #45, “Ruben Laukkonen,” from a month ago

I infer that this means the other podcast setup is no longer supported by Night Club. Good to know.

I’d also like to get them on the Apple podcasts for portability and ease of use.

Hey Barry, it looks like Night Club is only supporting SoundCloud at this time (which has both Android and iOS versions of its app). At first I kind of hated SoundCloud (cf. my recent thread on SoundCloud) but I’m giving it another chance, once I figured out how to easily go forward and back on the app (turns out this is done very differently than on any other podcast app I’ve used, to the point where I thought that there was no way to do so on the app).

Arthur, can you speed up or slow down (1.25, 1.5 etc.)? To me that’s an important feature for any online audio books or most other content. I don’t always use it, but frequently it helps.

Great question. As far as I can tell, there is no way to adjust the playback speed, an astonishing omission that reduces the utility of this app by at least 93% in my case, as I almost always use this feature when listening to lecture/podcast type material. And might I add, WTAF.

My best guess is that since SoundCloud is used primarily for music, they see no need to incorporate that feature. But that is also, IMO, a fantastic reason for @Night.Club to offer a different, non-SoundCloud-based way for people to listen to all of the audio material on apps designed for spoken word material.

In conclusion, sigh
