My favorite synthwave track by a longshot. And very appropriate for this community

I was always hoping Elton John and David Bowie would get together on some show, maybe SNL or a British variety show, and combine their two great songs, ā€œRocket Manā€ and ā€œSpace Odyssey,ā€ but alas I haven’t been able to find one. I’ve never heard a good mashup of them either except for the one below, being reasonable. I’ve seen Elton John in concert a couple of times and he’s truly amazing. Still waiting for the perfect fusion of these two songs with the original troubadours. However, this one is a nice blend:

A major purpose of listening to music when I was growing up, then grown up, was to dance! One of the best dance tunes is this one:

Here’s a favorite of mine I just remembered today and haven’t really listened to for a while. I love this artist’s music, it has the quality of a lucid dream. I actually think the artist said at one point that a lot of his songs here written from themes that came up during his dreams. The Space Oddity/ Rocketman mashup (both songs which I love a lot) reminded me of it.

Here’s one of his more dreamlike songs. Very resonant with the topics we discuss here.

And here’s another space-themed song of his I couldn’t resist sharing:

Hard to beat song of the '80s:

This song isn’t about dreams, but it has a very dreamlike atmosphere and I love it. I mean, I guess that’s expected. The genre of this kind of music is called dream pop after all. The Cocteau Twins are awesome.

Not sure why but Goosebumps reminds me of one good ol’ Leon Redbone

Lol, I was not sure either when I first listened to it. But listening closely to the too songs they seem to have low tone ā€˜horn’ like sounding instrument playing in the background, in Goosebumps its more autotuned and distroted, not sure what you would call it. But can see a connection now.

ā€œNow all the criminals in their coats and their ties
Are free to drink martinis and watch the sun rise
While Rubin sits like Buddha in a ten-foot cell
An innocent man in a living hellā€
