@Bucket. I love this! Thanks for sharing. The opening story is worth listening to. My wife studied Anglo-Saxon literature many years ago in the original language. It’s definitely like learning a foreign language.

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”- Isaiah 41:10

Fallen in love with this band ever since @NightHawk999 introduced me to them. This song is one of my favorites of theirs.

I found it when I was searching for music to use in a Dark Ages Call of Cthulhu one shot set in Anglo-Saxon England :joy:. I knew about Caedmon before that though because a Christian rock band I used to listen to when I was a kid used their name. They were called Caedmon’s Call. Here’s one of their songs:

Yes Anglo-Saxon is totally incomprehensible to modern speakers. All the words in their language were Germanic in origin, while modern English has a lot of French, Latin, and Greek words. In the poem, for example, the word used for creator is etymologically related to the word “shape”: scepen. Sc makes a sh sound in Old English I believe. Whereas “creator” comes from the Latin “creatus”.

Added to that, Old English also had grammatical case and grammatical gender as well. Totally different from modern English which is more analytical.

A new song and album from Marya Stark celebrating the Water Spirit. She states,
" This music was born of deep wordless grief and lucid dreams of Water Devas and has been profoundly healing and connective." The album is called “Underground River” and was co-created with Daniel Berkman.
Also, here is MC Yogi celebrating the water element:

American Indian sax player, Jim Pepper (Kaw and Creek) with his rendition of “Witchi Tai To”, a peyote song honoring the Water Spirit.
