Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche (TWR) quotes

so grateful beloved…
PURE GOLD…
did this practice yesterday and it was AMAZING!..
I think it’s better to be done during the day though…
I had some insomnia after.

I am very happy you tired it and it resonated with you! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Its my understanding that this practice is designed to be calming, with the sustained focus. If it energized you, you may be holding the focus a little bit too tight (Master Holecek says, not too tight not too loose). Or it may have been the extra excitement from doing the practice and having great success with it? Or maybe, your energetic body was deeply resonating with the rekindling of this practice; that you had done in past lives as a Buddhist Master?!?!?!?  :exploding_head:

“Although the experience of falling asleep is continuous, it is divided into 5 stages as an aid to bringing Awareness to the process”

p 185

Above is the quote from the bibliomancy I did a few weeks ago

Have so many more quotes to post here, but this one was a big one for me

Chapter 26
Sleep practice
p 181- 185

Cool synch when I did this bibliomancy a few weeks ago: I had been meaning to start paying close attention to the dissolution process of sleep, and wanted to start to doing this on a regular basis, falling asleep as consciously as possible and trying to observe the details of mind layers being shed. A few days later after I picked up the book and landed on this section.

In this chapter he also talks about the reverse, and watching the mind come back on line. It reminded me of this dream:

"Instead of reacting to a situation blindly, we can take a moment to stop and communicate with ourselves.
in that space, we can choose to generate the antidote to the negative emotion rather than act it out.
If someone is angry with us and our own anger arises, the antidote is compassion. Inducing it may feel forced and inauthentic at first, but if we realize the person irritating us is being controlled by their own conditioning, we can feel compassion, maybe even a connection to the person, and start to let go of our negative reactions. As we do, we begin to shape our future positively."

page 16

"If we continue this practice, we begin to see fewer people who seem to deserve our condemnation or anger and more people grappling with karmic conditioning.
Compassion eventually arises spontaneously and without effort.

Using the understanding of karma, we can retrain our minds to use all experience, even the most private and fleeting daydreams, to support spiritual practice."

My annotations on Page 16 & 17 basically have more stars and highlighting than the Milky Way. This was the second section I flipped to when doing bibliomancy. Here is the first one that came up:

Protection
(104-105)

“This may feel artificial, yet it doesn’t feel artificial when we create anxiety, tension, or anger while dwelling on the dreamy memories of the past, or worrying about the imagined interrations and situations of the future.”

(104)

Master TWR

“The important point is to slow down for a while before going to bed. Relax, scan your body with Awareness, progressively letting go of all tension from the top of your head to your feet. Clear your mind, and infuse your heart with Love and compassion.”

3rd bibliomancy:

"Khyungrul Rinpoche, a famous scholar, teacher, author, and meditation master. He was well known as a master Astrologer.
… was famous as a tamer of wild spirits, and was widely sought after as a Healer with magical abilities."

Every page, every sentence, every word a treasure. I’m slowly re-reading the introduction, and an entire universe of teachings are present there, pages 1-5. The point about reflecting on the llamas and yogis who have come before us, who have worked through the same doubts and obstacles that we have, and received the same benefits that we can receive, is highly motivating :). It generates trust and faith in the practice to realize we’re part of a lineage.
