Article about psychedelics and dreams

Well in my opinion, and in the opinion of a number of psychologists, both Trump and Elon are narcissists. They are all about projecting the great perfect image, but inside they are wounded little kids.
Narcissists tend to gravitate to positions of power. A number of world leaders and corporate leaders fit into that category.

Yes as do sociopaths.

Time will tell whether they have Hearts of gold or hearts of cold, my money is on the former.

I think the case study of the Elon Musk hate train is very fascinating. A year ago he was loved by Liberals, now 40-50% of them are licking their lips at the thought of him being killed. The hate mobs are funded and fueled by monsters in the shadows. They lie to and take advantage of the ignorant, mentally ill, and kind hearted:

DMT and the Tibetan Book of the Dead

The form of DMT that she did is called “Changa” - a mix of DMT and shreddded ayahuasca vine that is smoked. Kind of like “smokable ayahuasca” that only lasts a few minutes.

Does this cause the same symptoms of throwing up and crapping that the drink does?

How about the synthetic pill format of DMT?

Or do these methods have less purging side effects?

No it’s smoked, so there are no gastrointestinal effects as it’s not taken in through the stomach. Smoked (or more correctly “vaporized”) DMT creates intense visionary effects that often feels like you are traveling through other dimensions and worlds but it only lasts a few minutes. Ayahuasca, which is drunk, lasts about 4 hours or so, but people often take a 2nd or 3rd dose to make it last longer, but yes, there are often gastrointestinal effects that can involve purging. However, that is said to be part of it’s healing medicine. When you purge you release old trauma and stuff that you no longer need to carry. One doesn’t always purge with ayahuasca, but it is common. DMT is not orally active, so you can’t take it as a pill. It is broken down in the gut by mono-amine oxidase but the ayahuasca vine has an MAO inhibitor in it that allows it to pass through the gut and become orally active.
I have sensitive lungs so I was never able to get that far with vaporized DMT. I would cough it out before getting full effects. I would see some colored fractals for a minute or so and then it would fade. Changa is vaporized DMT with shredded ayahuasca vine added to intensify the effects and perhaps make it last a little longer. It was invented in Australia. When I tried it the same thing happened as straight DMT - I’d cough it out and the effects didn’t last long.
5-MEO-DMT, however, is a related molecule that is stronger than DMT so you don’t have to smoke as much. However the effects are less visionary. I could get the full effects at 20 mg whereas with DMT you need 40-50 mg to have full effects. I could hold the 20 mg of 5-MEO-DMT in my lungs long enough and for me it was a blast into the White Light ego death! My ego struggled to let go for a few seconds I experienced some contracted waves of resistance and then I was forced to let go by the power of this medicine. Then I was momentarily One with the Infinite/the Universe/Eternal Self/No-Self. I was gone. Completely forgot who I was. The first time I did it, it was in a ceremonial circle with others holding space. When I came back to earth it took a bit before I remembered who I was and who these people were and that I had just come down from a drug. It was wild!
This guys trip report is somewhat similar to what I experienced, except the colorful fractals in this video are not what I experienced. It was an explosion of White Light and I went into the White Light and was gone.

5-MEO-DMT is found in the venom of the Sonoron desert toad (Bufo Alvarius) and some people smoke this toad venom. What I took was pure synthetic 5-MEO-DMT.

Duncan Trussell tells us how NOT to do 5-MEO-DMT. Crazy dude!
And yes, in the 90’s you could order it online because it had not yet been scheduled. That is no longer the case.

Some vets are using it to heal from PTSD. As far as I know there is no research on this but lots of strong anecdotal evidence. Some of them are going to Mexico and pair it with an ibogaine journey that heals their addictions and many claim that it helps them heal traumatic brain injury.

This video is titled “DMT Healing” but should be titled 5-MEO-DMT healing.

Since today is Good Friday, I was thinking about the Good Friday Experiment conducted in Marsh Chapel at Boston University on Good Friday 1962. Walter Pahnke from the Divinity School was conducting the experiment with assistance from Timothy Leary and Richard Alpert (later known as Ram Dass) in the Harvard Psychology Department. Marsh Chapel was downstairs from the Main Sanctuary where Howard Thurman, the great African-American theologian (and mentor to Martin Luther King) was conducting the service upstairs. In the downstairs chapel half of the participants were given psilocybin and the other half were given niacin as a placebo and later they were given a test that measured the intensity of religious experience that they had. This is a recording of that Church service. Here is Wikipedia’s description of the experiment:

" Griffiths’ study

[edit]

In 2002 (published in 2006), a study was conducted at Johns Hopkins University by Roland R. Griffiths that assessed mystical experience after psilocybin.[10] In a 14-month follow-up to this study, over half of the participants rated the experience among the top five most meaningful spiritual experiences in their lives, and considered the experience to have increased their personal well-being and life satisfaction.[11]"

Loved learning about this experiment, pretty remarkably high numbers. 50% is no joke, hugely statistically significant.

Thank you for the reminder

Yes, Roland Griffiths from Johns Hopkins has done a lot to revive scientifically rigorous psilocybin research in the 21st century. He was also a long time Buddhist meditator. I saw him at the MAPS Conference in Denver 2 years ago. He passed into spirit from cancer shortly after that conference.

This is his portrait done by Alex Grey.
Notice the little portrait of Maria Sabina in the upper right hand corner. She was the Mazatec curandera who introduced Gordon Wasson to the mushroom.

Interesting and worth a try. A part of me is skeptical that it can take you as deep as a true psychedelic journey. The report that it amplified the effects of cannabis and made it more psychedelic did intrigue me. To me the visual effects of psychedelics are in a way, the surface level. Going deeper one goes into the territory of inner healing, transformations, inner teachings and at the deepest level, ego death. I’m skeptical that this technology would take one to these deeper levels. I would be curious to try this however.

A related technology is hemisynch or iAwake technologies audio tracks that purport to send one into various meditative brainwave states. I did this for a while, but for me after a while, it didn’t seem like I was going any deeper in my mediation practice with these audios vs. without any audios, so I stopped using them. For some folks they may be training wheels for meditation, however.

This fellow met the same entity in a DMT trip that he met in a Near Death Experience many years previously. He was then told “You’re not supposed to be here.” He has some good insights into the meaning of all this.

I tried the Blue Lotus a few months ago. It gave me a slight buzz and it perhaps made my dreams a bit more vivid, but I didn’t find it to be an automatic ticket to lucidity. I also tried the “Mexican Dream Herb” (Calea Zacatachichi) a few years back, but also didn’t find it to increase my lucidity. I didn’t know that Reichi helps with sleep, but I’ve got some in my supplement cupboard, so perhaps I will try it at bedtime. I’ve never tried the African dream herb. It sounds interesting, so perhaps I’ll try that one. Or try these in combination. These are probably not instant tickets to lucid dreaming, but if you are developing lucid dream skills, then they may help boost things a bit. I would be interested to hear anyone else’s experiences with these herbs.
