Indeed. Cannabis may have additional anti-cancer properties but much more research is needed in order to determine this.
In edible form, and concentrate form (like the dabs), no doubt.
The relaxation, and sleep inducing properties are a God send for healing the body.
Much better to use rarely, or once in a while (once a month, or once a season) than daily. The body builds a tolerance fast. But for cancer patients, or those with life threatening illness, higher frequency is understandable.
Smoking it I think it detrimental to overall health. The lungs and heart are just too crucial to risk long term damage.
Glad you brought this up.
Do you know how to safely prepare Amanita muscaria???
I have heard eating it raw can put you in a world of pain, or even be lethal. Have read about people cooking it, but dont know details of preparation.
Not sure if this is the species the ancients would feed to ‘reindeer’ and then drink their pee, but part of me wonders if that is just a fable. Maybe not. Either way, not my cup of tea…
Brilliant!
Also tied to the fire element, (chimneys), AKA SPIRIT
2 Rock Stars!
Thank you for this
I agree that smoking is not the best way to use cannabis. Edibles or dry herb vaporizing or very pure vape pens (with no chemical additives) is probably a safer method. That being said, there was a study quite a few years ago that tried to prove that cannabis had similar lung cancer risks as smoking tobacco but instead showed that there were lower lung cancer risks than tobacco. I read this study many years ago and just looked for this study but couldn’t find it. Seems like there are now a number of contradictory studies out there about this and I don’t have time to do thorough research on this at this moment. My own opinion is that if you are a “wake and bake” cannabis smoker and smoke it all day long, then that is certainly not going to be good for your lungs, whether or not the cancer risk is as high as tobacco. If you smoke it only occasionally, it’s probably not so bad and if you use it in other forms, it’s even better. The one thing to be careful about with edibles is dosage. It can take a long time to come on and can last a long time. I remember eating a MJ brownie at a party in the 90’s and had to call in sick the next morning because I was still feeling it. I also on a couple of occasions deliberatley pushed the dosage level of edible cannabis because I was hoping to have some of the visionary “waking dream” experiences reported by the 19th century “hash eaters.” It never got as visionary as expected (my psychedelic experiences were never as visionary as some other people report, but are profound in other ways) but I ended feeling like a drunken sailor on a ship in a stormy sea (my sense of balance was off when I walked) and I ended up vomiting it up both times. No one has ever OD’d from cannabis, so compared to opioids, alcohol and many other drugs, it is much safer as it doesn’t suppress the central nervous system.
I think over the next few decades, more studies will manifest showing weed to be as harmful, or more so than tobacco.
I hope I am wrong.
Great point. Same thing with shrooms.
Allergic reactions can be worse than ODing. Something to keep in mind for all beginner minds out there looking to experiment.
Amen Brother.
Allergic reactions can be worse than ODing?!
I don’t know if anything is worse than death?
p.s. I just did a google search about OD deaths from cannabis. Apparently there are OD deaths from synthetic cannabinoids. But there is only a market for synthetic cannabinoids in States where cannabis is illegal. So it could be argued that cannabis prohibition is leading to these deaths, so legalization could be seen as harm reduction.
Death by Allergic reaction…
(May not be worse, but certainly on par with)
I didn’t know that was a thing but just googled it, and apparently it is. There have been a handful of allergic deaths to cannabis, including a woman working in a grow facility.
But these numbers pale in comparison to opioid overdoses or even alcohol poisoning deaths.
No doubt
The aljergic reaction numbers also pale in comparison to people killed by cell phones…
“If you live in Honolulu, you could be charged with distracted walking if you pull out your cell phone while crossing a crosswalk. It may not seem logical that the city has a law in place to stop this practice, but after numerous accidents and financial losses for both pedestrians and drivers, it has become a necessary investment.”
A backwards step in human evolution?
I once was rear-ended on the Freeway by a woman who apologized to me because she had been looking at her cell phone when she ran into me. Fortunately this happened at a low speed and there was no serious damange.
The Dimmer switch has been cranked to low light…
Welcome to the new dark age
The Real Reason Why You Have Allergies
Add Sunlight to the list:
Growing Up ‘Allergic to the Sun’ - Erythropoietic Protoporphyria
This is off-topic from psychedelics, but very interesting.
Some folks are deliberately infecting themselves with hookworms as a way to cure severe allergies and auto-immune diseases. This guy who had very severe allergies deliberately walked barefoot through open air latrines in Africa in order to infect himself with hookworms and his allergies went away! Allergies and autoimmune diseases are rare in parts of the world where hookworm infections are endemic.
Also there is an alternative treatment called NAET (Nambudripad Allergy Elimination Technique) https://www.naet.com/
This is a very woo alternative medicine but seems to work. I myself had numerous environmental and food allergies and eliminated them through a method similar to this.
The method uses vials filled with water that contain the vibrational frequencies of various allergies. You can hold the vials and muscle test what you are allergic to. You then massage a series of acupressure points while you keep the vials in the energy field of the body. It worked for me and rarely have allergies anymore. If an allergy returns I treat it again and it goes away. I know a woman who went into anaphylactic shock if she ate shrimp. She can now eat shrimp after treating it through this method. This is much easier and less gross than going to Africa and walking through human poop.
There is a machine that puts the vibrational frequencies into vials filled with water. I have no idea how this works, like I said, it’s pretty woo. But I’m a radical pragmatist. “If it works, then it works,” regardless of whether our current science can explain it.
Very interesting indeed
Would be fascinating to see the data on these peoples cancer rates compared to the general population
Have you heard of people injecting themselves with snake venom???
This is really fascinating
And it drastically reduces the risk of catching Ebola, and other horrendous pathogens
Seems like I did hear about the snake venom thing once before but right now I don’t remember why they do that. So, why?
Getting High Injecting Snake Venom
Not just masochism, there are theories that the venom kills cancer cells, (along with healthy cells)
Diluted, I think it can help one build an immunity to the toxin, if you are living in rural areas with lots of poisonous snakes (I think the American Indians used to do this, no evidence though)
