"The NEW MOON occurs on Tuesday, December 12th, 2023, at 6:32 PM EST.

The New Moon in Sagittarius marks the beginning of a new cycle. Representing new beginnings, the New Moon occurs with the Sun and Moon’s alignment in the mutable fire sign of Sagittarius. It’s a time when we can focus on some of the constructive traits of the sign of the Archer – optimistic, enthusiastic, adventurous, honest, outspoken, independent – and consider how to positively incorporate these qualities into our lives.

As we advance, we can focus on goals that will increase our understanding and awareness, give us the courage to expand our horizons, and gain confidence and optimism from a broader perspective.

All too easily, we can get lost in the details of mundane existence. With this potent Sagittarius energy, however, we can find ways to transcend these details of day-to-day life and nurture our faith, hope, and vision.

Because Sagittarius thinks in big terms, we may have a tendency to overdo our expectations – something to watch for. We are setting the stage for reaping the rewards from our braveries, as little or big as they may be, in approximately two weeks’ time after the Full Moon occurs.

This New Moon forms a square with Neptune, and it’s best to watch for deception, self-deception, and procrastination. With its trine to the North Node of the Moon, the spirit to improve, grow, and make progress is with us."

Sagittarius is one of my favorite constellations:

@bianca, pictures do it much more justice, have not ever seen the milky way as bright as it is in some of these.

What fascinates me about the Sagittarius constellation most is not the light space, but the dark space it takes up in the night sky, which in my mind has always took the shape of a human torso:

image

So I believe the constellation Sagittarius takes up about double the amount of the space in the sky, the area that some might view as Ophiciucus, I think is the partial human part of saggitarius, alont qith the constellation Ophiciuchus

You can see the black shade of the archer really well in this pic:

Best constellation to view in summer times.

A must watch video

At this time marker you can watch the sun and planets move through (the lower half) of Opiciuchus, or the dark shaded area of Sagittarius:

If you look for Sirius, try to find at 10-15 degrees off the horizon (close to the horizon. You will understand why, if you see it in a clear night, it was prized by the ancients.

Wow! Awesome photos!
Someone i follow on FB who lives on a neighbouring island posted these yesterday.

Why is Saggitarean one of your favourites?

I watched the video and where the sun passes across Ophiuchus only really across the knees, in fact it made me think of the pillars of hercules.

I shall take a look later. We have great clear skies here. Why prized?

I remember winter solstice 2012 there was a coming together of 3 stars. The arrow pointed to it, and between the sting and Ophiuchus. I remember journaling about it.

What is the pic of? Looks like cloud coverage with light, or maybe the Auras?

Many reasons.

Its one of if not the most beautiful thing to see in the night sky.

Its faint, even in particularly darker noght sky areas, it looks like coud coverage, not stars of the milky way, so most people miss it.

Its glorious! Never seen it in its fully glory, but good photographers do it partial justice.

Talk about a great symbol of Power and speed, and that it contains the heart of our glaxey.

This is one of the reasons why I prefer the more liberal above the belt of Saggitarius interpretation of the constellation sky real estate, than the more conservative below the belt interpretation, (not the most flattering region) of Ophiuchus. :upside_down_face:

I think what really hit home was when I was gifted a professional photo of the milky way, and I had the eureka monement of finally seeing the image of the constellation in the stars and dark spaces. It was striking.

This constellation, actually looks like what it is supposed to depict. Its in the minority, not many memebers of the zodiac have this claim to fame.
Scorpio is one that also does this, along with Leo.

Like the path, its something that has to be experienced, telling you wont do it justice. Do the leg work and let me know your thoughts, and how it looks unique from other stars. Then I will tell you my theory on why the ancients put great value on it.

Good homework assignmenrt for me. Are you talking about a conjunction of 3 planets? I was not looking at the sky deeply over a decade ago, so will be cool to look back and see what was going on.

Andrew talked about a precognitive dream he had around the time when there was a conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter during the winter solstice 2-3 years ago. That was pretty spectacular to see, the alignmnets were perfect.

He wrote, “night sky above house and Aurora”.
It’s been an abundance of spectacular Aurora borealis skies this season. Almost every night.

Wow ! Love that! The way you describe is beautiful.
Youve given me no reason not to look at the sky now. I have no light pollution so ive no excuse.

Thank you for pointing this out. I see now in a different light.

Now i understand youre interest here.

I value that and will investigate.

I remember it was 3 stars M6 and M7, cant remember the other. The reason i was drawn to them is because of 6 & 7 in my dream language is the female & male. Im going to find my old journal and see what ive written. Will let you know tomorrow.

Edit just seen this post is 67

Pretty cool he got such a good pic of the Auroras, not an easy thing to photograph. Solar activity on the surface of the sun has been increasing with sun spots over the past ~2 years, which typically means more Auroras.

I am jealous. Not something typically visible in the States. But the only time I have seen them was on a trip in Wisconsin. They were very faint, but spectacukar.

Its a gift that keeps on giving. :slightly_smiling_face:

Jupiter should be pretty easy to spot too, as well as Venus. Compare them to how Sirius looks and you will understand the differece, its subtle but striking.

Indont think you will be disappointed.

Did some research:

https://espacepourlavie.ca/en/december-21-2012

That is cool the galactic center aligned on that day.

pretty cool synchronicity :slightly_smiling_face:

I looked up these, didnt realize they were so close to scorpio and the center of the galaxy:

This is part of what i wrote in my journal on the 13th December 2012:
“If you look at the sky this morning as the sun rose the new moon was nudge together with Venus above just to the right. I notice they sit in the middle of Scorpio Sagittarius and Ophiuchus. It is also where stars M6 and M7 lay. It is of course the marriage of the sun and the moon.”

I agree, ive only an old mobile phone. He says it was “Taken on iPhone 14 Pro in 30 secs exposure on mini tripod”.
Ive stood in my garden feeling completely underneath a vast sky with the colours of rays of light from the Aurora showering to the ground all around.

I have to remember that. Its so dark, cold and howling wind here, im often just huddled next to my heater, layered in

and going outside doesn’t beckon.

 " Will the world end on December 21, 2012?" Interestingly it was because on this suggested theory i decided to journal from July 2012, and ive refered back to it so often since.

This is something i too notice only recently.

Solomon…

Really impressive, it looked like some form of time exposure was used, it often is to make the light photograph more realistically.

Amazing! Now I am really jealous, did not realize they could get so bright to illuminate the ground like moonlight.

I hear you. Thats another reason why I love Sagittarius constellation, it peaks lat spring and can be seen throughout the summer.

I guess the only tips i can give is layer up as much as possible, long underwear with two pairs of pants, face mask and scarf gloves extra, and a metal thermous with hot water in it. Top ot off with a blanket or cloak.

A good Bon fire wouldnt hurt

It will produce a lil light polution, but it you have the fire to your back, it wont hurt the viewing.

Amen! That went over my head! Well spotted! You being an expert was it a rare occurrence?

At the time (dec 2012) i was using one of those Constellation Map Apps on my iPad. I remember seeing 3 stars/planets moving towards a centre. I thought if this is what the Three Wise Men or the Shepherds in the fields saw a bright light; as in when it looks like 3 stars merge forming treble brightness. Something i found confusing in the bible “seeing star in the east”
I love this lady in this video

I didn’t know that either. Like i said before we’ve been having lots of Northern light shows this season. Only problem (you wont be jealous of) lots of high windy days like past 2 days!
You said you get frost are you north south east or west in US?

Ahhh then i can delay my homework
:joy: You wont believe it but my house has no heating & im layered up in warm clthes indoors !! Woolly hat, fingerless gloves. Its almost like how people lived before electric! :joy: But the good thing is its been great for very long term meditation practices.

Resonated with the 2nd video.

Not sure, I am not an expert :upside_down_face: I know nothing lol

What came to mind with the sun and moon marriage, was maybe it was a possible solar eclipse. Did the research, looks like a total solar eclipse happened about 30 days prior:

Total solar eclipses are rarer (about every 18months) and the alignments often mean earth and the moon are closer together in their orbits, so the following new moon in december you write about may have been a ‘super’ new moon.

lol not all of it, still waiting for your report on Sirius

You dont even have a fireplace or Potbellied stove? :scream:

I believe it, have done winter camping in a hammock. Its not day at the beach :

I just discovered this thread. I would love to have help in understanding my birth chart more! I’m not a determinist when it comes to astrology, and won’t pretend to understand the mechanism of how planets could impact our personalities on a scientific level, but I have definitely noticed correlations between signs and personalities. I’d be happy to share my natal chart. For starters, my sun is in Cancer, Moon in Libra, and Ascendant is Scorpio.

In my experience Cancers (along with other water signs) seem to be much more psychologically savy, and can appreciate astrology on a deeper level than most.

The correlation betwee pn the signs and behavior and personalities is pretty amazing, glad you can pick up on that. Women are typically much better at this than men.

Can you do a snapshot like this using this site:

If you can provide these additional screen shots it would be very helpful:

Here is a short summary, with the additional angles and info, I will be able to do a much better job.

Take it with a big grain of salt, these are sterotypical descriptions of Cancers:

Cancers feel emotions stronger and deeper than almost any other sign. They have a sensitivity to the world that is very high, which is why they typically are very skilled with Psychic abilities, or ESP. This is typically a sign that has amazing memory abilities, and can sometimes spend too much time dwelling on the past. Especially past hurts, which they may eventually forgive, but will never forget. Miss Swifts (sagittarius sun, cancer moon) line of “just shake it off” was the Saggitarian in her speaking, not her moon. Smart and very astute in business and financial affairs, they know how to pinch a penny and can see hidden value from a mile away. These signs are some of the best mothers of the zodiac, if not, the best. Their sensitivity, and powerful nurturing and attachment abilities, usually means one lucky child.

There is a wild side to this sign too, as well as a powerful ability to connect with nature and animals. A Child of Diana (goddess of the hunt and motherhood) and ruled by the moon, Cancer can move through strong or even overwhelming emotions the same way the moon changes phases every day. Having a stable and safe home life is crucial for this signs wellbeing.

With a moon in Libra, which is typically looking for (emotional) balance and harmony, this can be off putting at times. The Libra moon will make this sign much more social, cool, and diplomatic than your typical Cancer. It will also take some of the edge off the strong deep emotional waves. I really like this summary, but it is not 100% accurate, nor is it exhaustive, but its a good start:

“Sun in Libra/Moon in Cancer: Ambassador
You are astute and highly insightful. People are jealous of your peace of mind and air of serenity. They react to your quiet attraction, lightheartedness and optimism. Your crafty and subtle wit can bring delight to those around you. Because you have surely endured your portion of blows and disenchantments, experience has taught you a lot about how to deal with people and the world around you. Libra’s warmth and aesthetic admiration is added to the emotional astuteness, resourcefulness, and understanding of a Cancer Moon. Your two greatest assets are allure and flexibility. You have certainly learned that compassion, negotiation, and diplomacy can work where hostility and toughness fail. As a result you are a mild, peaceable soul. You know how to get used to the stress and grimness of life and your ability to understand people allows you to go far. Both of your signs are cardinal ones, which indicates you are a lively, determined and a socially concerned person. Your specialty is people. You can play any role conceivable, knowing instinctively what people desire and expect, but playing roles can be dangerous at times. You are, you will discover, a whole lot tougher and resilient than you thought you were. Stop fretting so much about what others think and just be yourself. Learn to appreciate and love yourself for who you are. There is almost nothing you are unable to achieve once you have overcome insecurity. You have a wonderful aesthetic sense and a powerful imagination so art, design and music are all areas in which you can be successful. Your social insight can be used in a creative manner in humanitarian work and diplomacy because you have a keen understanding of people. Former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt was a Libra- Cancer. You are a master negotiator and diplomat. Amazingly you awoke one day unsure of whom you actually are. Over-accommodating is something that all Libra- Cancers need to beware of. You are only happy when others seem happy as well, but you must not sacrifice your sense of being for their sake. You believe it is imperative to protect your feelings like all sensitive and psychologically vulnerable people. There is a risk that in protecting yourself you will lose your individuality completely. Do not erect such high walls that your personality loses.”

Rough tip of the iceberg, a piece of paper can never do justice to a personality, but hopefully some of the pasta thrown at the wall sticks. Will have a lot more noodles for you later when I have seen the planetary placements.

Will write more in the future. Left out a lot due to lack of time and info, but hope those broad strokes are useful.

I have always resonated strongly with everything I’ve heard and read about my sun, moon, and ascendant. I do feel that it fits me very strongly. I have a lot of water in my chart. It isn’t easy  To dovetail into the discussion about psychedelics and ketamine, I have indeed struggled with the strength of my emotional tides pretty much my whole life, and, for better or for worse, it has taken medication to temper those waves to something liveable. Also… fun fact (since you mentioned Diana)- my middle name given at birth was Diane.

Here are some screenshots:

Just wanted to be sure… it looks like maybe you copied this from something with my signs / planets flipped around (?) As my sun is in Cancer and moon in Libra (not the other way around).

This is something I have always heard about Cancers and it amuses me. I have a real love-hate relationship with “home”- I am a bit of an introvert and need a good amount of time at home (ideally alone) to recharge, but I also get bored living in one place too long and can’t really picture myself living in the same place for more than 5 years. (ideally, I’d like to move every 2-3 years… as in, move to a new state, not just across town.) I feel like there’s a sort of tension between the nesting Cancer and some air energy that wants to keep moving, hates feeling tied down.

That was stupid, I am sorry, was strapped for time and pasted wrong one, I meant to paste this one:

“Sun in Cancer/Moon in Libra: Yes Man
You often follow the road that your peers, parents or authority figures have gone down, and a lot of your disarray comes from not doing what you feel. You can easily give into self-consciousness, shyness, excessive self-examination and maybe even closing yourself off when your desire to defend yourself or shield your feelings takes priority. Learn to control your surroundings because your environment can often dictate to you. This is particularly true when you choose friends and associates. When combined with the Moon in Libra, the emotional anxieties and the shyness of Cancer are magnified. Your quest for internal peace and quiet is held back by your emotional vulnerability and high degree of sensitivity. How you perceive yourself often takes a back seat to how others see you. You sometimes lose your way in the attitudes and roles of those around you. This is because you are so busy watching what others are saying and doing. Somehow you believe you will find yourself there. A positive and supportive situation will result if you do. Your opinions are just as good as others and you should learn to speak up more and be confident. Perils and occasionally daring are sometimes necessary to take advantage of opportunities. You are very romantic and long to be needed. The sexual aspect is not as important as the romantic and sentimental side of romance for you. You often completely ignore the bad traits in your partner and build up the good ones to almost unreachable heights. You need emotional support and encouragement at every turn and you will practically worship a person who gives it to you. Your endowments are inside of you and you need to search for various ways to express them. You can rid yourself of fears and meet larger challenges after you have acquired more self-confidence. You are extremely creative because of your powerful imagination. A Cancer-Libra has numerous artistic opportunities if they have gained enough confidence. You have a knack for singling out the sources of stress and conflict and this would make you an excellent diplomat and a natural conciliator. You can apply you social skills in wide ranging areas like psychology, sociology, law or public relations once you achieve emotional balance and harmony.”

Really cool chart, appreciate you posting that.
Heading to bed. Will have mpre to say in the coming days.

LOL, I looked at your chart before I read this paragraph above “Thats a lot of water!” was the first insight that poped into my head. Sounds like you know your stuff better than most

Not easy is an understatement, but your intuitive abilities and psychic abilities have got to be pretty powerful, no?

Did you know the Dalai Lama is a Cancer sun?

Love this! Does your family know about this stuff, or was the naming a (devine) ‘coincidence’?
